All-Hallow's-Eve

I know it is two weeks past Halloween and I am so behind blogging. You will have to forgive me, it's a little late, but..

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. I love the feel of Autumn in the air, the spooky cobwebs and all the little ones in costumes. I have never been into the gore and guts of Halloween. I like more of a classy, dark, vampire royalty look for my decosorations, with a just touch of fun.

This year, for Halloween, we had a little party with delicious spooky treats, family and friends and costumes were required.

A Picnic and A Park

One of the last days of warm sunshine my sweet husband and I went on a little picnic. It felt wonderful to soak in as much sun as possible before bright days become rare. We enjoyed some very healthy grilled chicken, mash potatoes, and juicy corn on the cob. Drowning into the blue sky on a blanket with my man made a perfect day at the park.

Delicious Hot Schmoes

Crackling sound of light
Holes to heaven so clear
Summer breeze fills the space
Life so fresh and lush

With winter rushing to join us it is sad to leave behind summer nights. There is nothing more refreshing then spending time in the mountains we are so blessed to have. I love driving through the canyons filled with so much color and life. The smell of campfires always makes it seem like summer. The Larsen family had our last summer campfire a few weekends ago. The sweet boys love exploring and getting sticky with roasted mallows.

21 Candles

Family dinners are always fun, but cake and presents make them even more special. Nate has finally reached 21 candles. The little brother I grew up playing make believe restaurant with is now legal. Happy birthday and tons of love.
Baby girl, Caroline, loves birthdays since one of the perks of being two is you help blow out candles and open all presents even if they aren't for you!!

Besties Lunch Date

I love that it doesn't matter how much time has passed since we last saw each, put best of friends together and we pick up right where we left off. Britt and I have been best of friends since middle school. Put us together and we can't stop talking and giggling. It was so fun catching up with her and her adorable two-year-old, Jaxon. She and her hubby are expecting their second boy early November. They are lucky boys to have her for their momma. I am so excited for them and just love having her in my life.

Huntington Sand

"Have you been to California
Seen the sights and people there
Walked the streets of sleepy sea towns
Tasted salty ocean air"

A couple days of sun, your toes buried in the sand while listening to crashing waves can be the best therapy. And don't forget the delicious seafood. I am a sucker when it comes to fresh fish and sushi is just heavenly. If I moved somewhere for food, it would be near the coast to be closer to the fish! There was sun, but a storm off the coast of New Zealand caused a chilly wind at our beach. To walk out on the pier I had to add a few layers.

Little Bit of Road

For our anniversary we decided to take a little road trip.
We both love traveling, but knew we didn't have time to go far.
Destination: Huntington Beach, CA with a few stops along the way.

Little bit of junk food for the road

VALENCIA:
Adrenaline-Six Flags, Magic Mountain

Wait time for rides - five minutes or less to sit front row
Basically walk on, ride, scream, repeat
No lines meant no recovery time in between
In 30 minutes we road the new "Green Lantern" and "BATMAN" at least two times each

So... happy with no lines...ride after ride after ride after ride... oh my head, is it still attached?
Click here to have the Green Lantern Experience

We refueled and were ready to go
10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. non stop roller coasters
We ended up riding all the big coasters multiple times

We screamed (well I screamed) and laughed all over the park. Sunny weather, no crowds and my best friend.
Such a perfect day... until "Déjá Vu"
Conversation getting off ride Déjá Vu:

Boy: "Dad, do you have your cell phone?"
Dad: "Yeah, why?"
Boy: "I saw one go flying."
Rippling through the crowd: "Did you see that phone?"
Emily: "Dal, you have your phone?"
Dalin: "Yeah" reaches for his pocket, discovers it's empty...

Sad to say his phone took flight while we were being thrown around on the ride. We waited til the park closed so they could look for it. Luckily they found his phone, well the pieces of what once was a phone. If you try to contact him and he replies with the old excuse, "who are you, my phone broke?" this is proof it really did.

The second - 3rd

To my love...
The happiest and biggest decision ever to make
Who will hold my heart forever?
Two years ago I handed it to you
knowing without a doubt you'd keep it safe
Searching through my dreams
I looked for you until you came true

I love you

Shades of Meaning

Colors decorate the world
Vibrant hues and muted tones
It's the in between shades that capture
Quietly whispering through
Dusk and dawn give a glaze of gold
Gray of a storm blankets in comfort
Sensation of the eyes

Two Years

Welcome Home Elder Nathan Nielsen
Nate returned home after spending two years in Washington D.C.
He served and worked hard to bring light to those around him
He is still his joking and fun loving self
His love for the gospel has just increased
It is fun to have him home
Love you so much Nae

Love Knots

Life has a way of changing what love means
Love is giving your whole heart and soul to another
Trusting them to hold it close and never let go

Knots of a tree are considered imperfections
To a climber, specific knots hold their lives
Knots fasten and secure things together

Love is not perfect, if it were it wouldn't be true love
Without him I would fall
We are fastened together and I'm secure in his arms
I am lucky in love to have someone
Someone to laugh with and enjoy life through the ups and downs
Who says, we will get through this

Love knots will hold our moments, each captured with my heart, words and a lens
